Meet our Doctors

Dr. Strake has built a reputation as one of the South Shores' leading veterinary surgeons. Educated at the Freie University of Berlin, Germany, she completed the ECFVG internship program at Tufts University Foster School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995.  Dr. Strake practices small animal medicine and surgery. She has completed extensive training in ultrasonography and has been scanning regularly for the past 13 years. Surgical experience includes all routine and non-routine soft tissue surgery including intestinal and bladder surgeries, feline thyroidectomies and laser surgery. She has much experience in avian and exotic medicine and is particularly interested in ferret medicine. She also has a strong background in oncology and offers many chemotherapy treatment plans.

Dr. Strake lives in Scituate with her husband Michael and sons Ben and Josh. Her family is completed by her 3 dogs, Bronson, Spencer, and Tessie, 4 cats-Joey, Alina, Mietzie, and Pi, as well as 2 aquatic red-eared slider turtles, Tex and Rex.  Dr. Strake is also a professional violinist and an avid Red Sox Fan.

Dr. Harvey is a 1993 graduate of Tufts Veterinary School and has many years experience in small animal and exotic medicine. She has special interests in avian medicine, small mammals and reptiles. Dr. Harvey also has a strong background in general and soft tissue surgery and dentistry.

Dr. Harvey lives in Kingston with her husband Doug and daughter Michelle as well as their 2 cockatiels, a Pionus parrot, and a cat named Iris. Her outside hobbies include competitive swimming and running mini triathlons.



liz.jpgLiz Czaplicki, DVM

Dr. Liz graduated from the Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 following a degree in Biology from the University of Vermont. After Vet school she completed an internship in equine medicine and surgery at Rochester Equine Clinic before joining Black Pond Vet Service in Norwell, MA. Dr. Liz was certified in equine acupuncture at the Chi Institute while at Black Pond. She is a member of the AVMA and served as the chairperson for the membership committee of the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Liz comes to South Coastal Animal Health with a strong interest in ultrasonography and has expanded her acupuncture training to treat small animals.

Dr. Liz lives in Hingham with her husband Kyle, son Ian,and cat Daisy Duke. Her horse Patrick lives in Marshfield where there is more room. In her spare time Liz loves to travel and kayak. She has traveled in Africa, Europe, and Central America and has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.


Dana Carne, VMD

Dr. Dana Carne earned her undergraduate degree in Biology at Rutgers University in 1998. She then went on to enjoy a career teaching science at an urban high school in northern NJ. After years of encouraging her students to never stop reaching for their goals, she herself decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Carne graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and then completed an internship in small animal medicine & surgery at NYC Veterinary Specialists in Manhattan.


 

 

 

 

 

Sandra Tam, DVM (photo coming soon)

Dr. Tam joined our team in December 2010. Her most recent position was at Nantucket Animal Hospital. Dr. Tam completed her Veterinary training at Ross University in St. Kitts. Sandra lives in Brookline with her husband David and their dogs Coco, Ollie and Wallace. Dr. Tam is certified in Veterinary Accupuncture and has a special interest in holistic medicine.
